Meet Ji'Mya! Twelve-year-old Mya has lived with Sickle Cell Anemia her entire life. Despite being hospitalized frequently for pain crisis, Ji'Mya is a star student and a competitive cheerleader. She LOVES sushi, Hello Kitty and her big brothers.

What is Sickle Cell Anemia? Sickle cell disease is a condition in which red blood cells are not shaped as they should be. Red blood cells usually look like round discs. But in sickle cell disease, they're shaped like crescent moons, or an old farm tool known as a sickle.

These sickle shaped cells get stuck together easily, and block off small blood vessels. When blood can't get to where it should, it can lead to pain and organ damage.

"Dreams Come True has been a wonderful blessing to us. From the concerts and shows, to the lovely relationships they have helped us build. It is an amazing organization that has allowed Ji’Mya to experience a side of life they she may have never experienced. We love and appreciate all the “angels” that we have been blessed with from Dreams Come True"- Ji'Mya's Mom

Thank you to everyone who joined us on September 28 for the #DCT5K, presented by Tote Maritime. We welcomed over 1,600 walkers and runners to our "Field of Dreams," sponsored by Miller Electric Company. With 100 volunteers and several sponsors/vendors, it was a great morning to be at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

More than $315,000 was raised to help us continue our mission of bringing hope and joy to local children battling life-threatening illnesses. What an amazing way to celebrate 35 years as YOUR local dream-granting organization on the First Coast!! #ilovejax

A special thank you to our 2019 DCT5K digital partner, 3D Digital, for this recap of our event. Pictures from the special day will be posted soon!
